Rain Got You Down?

Of course, it’s just your luck that while visiting the sunshine state or the happiest place in America (SLO) to plan your Central Coast Wedding, that it would be a week full of clouds, gloom, and buckets of rain. We understand how you feel, which is why we’ve put together a list of fun things to do when the weather isn’t cooperating with your desire for adventure! Instead of trudging through the muddy mountains or freezing your little booties off at the beach, grab your flip-flops and umbrella, and go try out a few of these ideas to keep your wedding planning weekend (or just any weekend, really) full of weather accommodating fun! Take your soon to be spouse, your bridesmaids, or your mom to any of these places for some local excitement!
1. Hot Tub at Sycamore Mineral Springs in Avila
Cloudy skies, light rain, and a forest hidden hot tub sounds like the perfect rainy day activity if you ask me! Take a relaxing & possibly steaming break from reality by heading over to Sycamore Mineral Springs for a little R&R. Fair Warning: This may not be suitable for those who would rather NOT be outside in the rain.
2. Art Bar SLO
The rain isn’t always the greatest for a wine tasting tour of the plethora of Central Coast Wineries & Vineyards, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find yourself a classy glass of wine to indulge in! Get creative at the Art Bar SLO while you drink and snack on appetizers, as one of the highly qualified artists take you step by step through paining your own picture! Each night a different painting is chosen and an artist at Art Bar teaches you how to recreate it! It’s a really cool mix of art, booze, and making a mess masterpiece.
3. Phoenix Book Store
Is there anything better than snuggling down with a good book on a rainy day? Check out the Phoenix Book Store in Downtown SLO for the perfect small town, used book store. The book lined walls, vintage feel, and eclectic vibe makes the hometown bookstore one of a kind. Grab a Cup of Joe from a near by coffee shop and enjoy the feel of a good book!
4. Go To The Movies
From the Palm and Fremont Theaters downtown, to the Sunset Drive in, San Luis Obispo’s movie theater options are ON POINT. Watching a good movie is always a great idea when its raining outside, so go ahead, venture out to a movie theater near you, sit back, and enjoy some popcorn while watching a Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum flick with 150 of your closest friends.
5. Downtown SLO Bar Crawl
So maybe wine tasting was out of the picture due to the rain, not to worry, San Luis Obispo is home to some of the greatest bar scenes on the Central Coast. From TaterTot Night at MOTAV to adding some heat with the Bull Sweat at Bull’s Tavern, there are plenty of awesome bars you can venture to, and most are in walking distance of one another!
