Chelsea & Courey | Santa Margarita Ranch

Gale force winds, flash floods, and chilly temperatures were on tap for this very special couple’s day. Chelsea and Courey just smiled, laughed, and loved through it- they were our ray of sunshine! Congratulations to a beautiful couple, and enjoy these teaser shots from yesterday’s wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch.

Real Wedding Stories: Elisa and Ryan, Santa Margarita Ranch

Rustic ranch wedding on a working cattle ranch

The Romance

Elisa and Ryan were two California-bred employees of Royal Caribbean International when they met halfway around the world on February 3, 2009. Elisa, a dancer and aerialist with the cruise ship’s production met Ryan, a lighting technician for the production department in a meeting for new crew members assigned to the ship. They soon found themselves forming a close friendship and that led to love on the high seas. Three years later Ryan proposed to Elisa, and their life long adventure began!

Their venue selection

Elisa and Ryan may have fallen in love on the other side of the world, but, they grew up just a few hours from each other in California; Elisa hails from Santa Maria, California, and Ryan, from Dinuba, California. Both wanted a Central Coast wedding venue that was not only close to their respective hometowns, but reflected their sense of style. They chose the historic Santa Margarita Ranch, just 45 minutes north of Santa Maria, because of it’s rustic appeal and outdoors focus.

How did they make their wedding unique?

It was very important to Elisa and Ryan to create an event that highlighted their personal style, and their love for family and friends (which included their cruise ship family!). They did not want to do anything that would be an expected tradition. We loved their cocktail and popcorn hour in the garden, and that the Groom utilized his background and worked with us to design the perfect lighting scheme for their reception in the historic barn.

The Day

With rustic sophistication and  meaningful details as their style inspiration, Elisa and Ryan used the outdoor locations around the ranch and the barn to it’s full advantage. We loved their choice of the massive oak tree in the garden as their ceremony back drop. For their reception personal touches like gifts of home made soaps, and their own floral design completed their vision to a “t”.

Their advice for future couples?

“Be patient, and take it one step at a time”. Congratulations Elisa and Ryan!

Sarah & Travis

This past Saturday was an amazing day as we again had the privilege of working with an amazing and fantastic couple from Orange County. With stormy weather and consistent rain threatening to postpone the engagement shoot, fate won out and the skies opened up for a 3 hours of beautiful cloudy skies and a jaw dropping sunset. Sarah and Travis were nothing short of a blast and their genuine love for one another was so evident. The Coast was beautiful and Montana De Oro could not have been more picturesque and perfect. The shots we got were stunning and again, we felt so privileged to be working with such an amazing couple.
We love what we do.

Meet our Finally I Do Couple: Amber & Brian!

b77527_e7ce26fb82974fac8621f652d9e14ecb

“Amber teaches seven art classes at Templeton High School and dedicates countless hours before, after school, and on weekends, mentoring her students. Amber started the student Art Club, served as the Assistant Activities Director /ASB advisor, and doubled the participation in the California Scholarship Federation club which emphasizes students serving their community. Brian is a Volunteer Firefighter with SLO County Fire and is the Training Officer for his station. In the role of Training Officer, Brian is also a mentor to new recruits, many of whom are students straight out of high school still trying to decide their paths in life. Instead of spending hours volunteering as mentors and roles models, Brian and Amber could take on second jobs to help save for their wedding. But the couple says they’re not interested in giving up their passion for helping and guiding others, simply to spend more money and energy on themselves. They were nominated by a former student and fire academy trainee.”
